PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (August 1, 2017) - Travis Ott spun six scoreless innings and David Olmedo-Barrera reached base all four times to lead the Charlotte Stone Crabs to a 6-1 win over the St. Lucie Mets Tuesday night at Charlotte Sports Park.
Ott (5-1) struck out five and allowed only two walks and three hits over his six spotless frames. He has now worked 11 consecutive shutout innings, lowering his season ERA to 2.73.
Olmedo-Barrera finished the night 3-for-3 with a walk, RBI, run and two stolen bases. He leads the team with 17 swipes.
In a scoreless game in the bottom of the third, Stone Crabs (52-54, 21-17) shortstop Lucius Fox walked with one out before advancing to second on a ground out. Ryan Boldt, Brett Sullivan and Olmedo-Barrera all followed with RBI singles to give Charlotte a 3-0 lead.
Still up by that count in the fourth, Nate Lowe doubled to center before Thomas Milone singled. After a groundout advanced them to second and third, Fox lined a hit into right to make the score 4-0.
With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Olmedo-Barrera walked against Mets (48-59, 15-24) starter Michael Gibbons (0-3). After a Kevin Padlo single moved Olmedo-Barrera to third, Lowe dumped a single to left to score both runners and make it 6-0 Stone Crabs.
Charlotte reliever Spencer Jones worked two scoreless innings to finish off the win.
Tuesday's victory closed out the winningest homestand of the Stone Crabs' 2017 season. Charlotte finished it with a 6-2 mark.
