Stone Crabs shut out by Marauders 5-0 Sunday

Cronenworth picks up two more hits in defeat

BRADENTON, Fla. (April 9, 2016) - Jake Cronenworth picked up two more hits but the Charlotte Stone Crabs were shut out by the Bradenton Marauders 5-0 Sunday at LECOM Park.

The Stone Crabs (0-4) managed just five hits on the day.

The Marauders (4-0) began the day with a Cole Tucker single. After Mitchell Tolman bunted him to second, Tucker stole third before scoring on a wild pitch from Charlotte starter Michael Velasquez (0-1).

Still leading 1-0 in the second, Bradenton right fielder Kevin Krause launched a solo home run to right to extend the lead to 2-0.

Up two in the bottom of the fourth, Logan Hill tripled to start the inning before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Danny Arribas. Two batters later, Krause added his second home run of the game to make it a 4-0 score.

After Velasquez worked a perfect fifth, Hill took him deep to left center to cap the scoring at 5-0.

Stone Crabs reliever Ian Gibaut worked 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four while allowing just a single.

Cronenworth has begun the season 8-for-18 (.444) to start the year. He leads the team in hits and runs scored.

The Stone Crabs will return home Monday to being a three-game series against the Palm Beach Cardinals. Eduar Lopez will get the start Monday against Jake Woodford of the Cardinals. Coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
