Road trip continues in Iowa tomorrow

NEW ORLEANS - The Baby Cakes scored in each of the first 4 innings and cruised to a 7-0 win over Omaha on Thursday night at The Shrine On Airline.

New Orleans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st; Steve Lombardozzi singled, and with 2 out, he stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on a throwing error. Moisés Sierra then walked and stole 2nd, and Brandon Barnes flared a 2-run single to center.
In the bottom of the 2nd, Matt Juengel doubled, was sacrificed to 3rd on a bunt by Christian Colón, and scored on a double by Peter Mooney, making it 3-0.
The 'Cakes tacked on 2 more in the 3rd, as Moises Sierra homered, Brandon Barnes singled, and Cal Towey tripled.
Luke Farrell (L, 7-4) was lifted after 3 innings; he allowed 5 runs (4 earned), 7 hits, and 1 walk, while striking out 1.
New Orleans made it 6-0 in the 4th against new Chaser Sam Selman , on a Mike Aviles single, an error, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly by Tomás Telis.
Odrisamer Despaigne (W, 1-4) tossed 5 shutout innings for the 'Cakes, scattering 4 hits. He struck out 3 and walked none.
Kyle Zimmer tossed over an inning of scoreless relief before yielding a run in the 7th on a Moises Sierra single and a Brandon Barnes double. It was 7-0.
Eric Stout pitched 1.2 innings of run-free relief for Omaha, closing out the 7th and working the 8th as well.
Victor Payano threw 2 scoreless frames for the 'Cakes, meanwhile, and Javy Guerra completed the combined shutout by pitching the 8th and 9th.
The Storm Chasers will travel to Des Moines tomorrow to begin a 3-game series with the Iowa Cubs. LHP Onelki Garcia (1-0, 5.53) will pitch for Omaha, while Iowa's starter is to be announced. First pitch is scheduled for 7:08.
