Chasers Topped by the Aces in Game Three, 3-0

Omaha gives up three in the third to fall behind Reno, 2-1, in the best-of-five series
September 14, 2012

OMAHA, Neb. - Nate Adcock pitched well but the Storm Chasers' offense was muted as Omaha fell to the Reno Aces, 3-0, in Game Three of the Pacific Coast League Championship Series on Friday night. All three of the runs given up by Adcock came in the third inning. Anthony Seratelli paced the offense with his 2-for-3 performance at the plate while Wil Myers chipped in with a double.

Reno's Ryan Budde singled off of Adcock (1-1) to start the third while the next batter, Keon Broxton, lined out. A.J. Pollock then connected for a two-run home run on a 3-1 offering to put the Aces (2-1) ahead 2-0. Tyler Kuhn then followed up Pollock's homer with one of his own to extend the lead to 3-0.

Adock would settle in and hold Reno off of the scoreboard for the next five innings and finish with a line of four hits, three runs, two walks and eight punch outs. The Aces' Joe Martinez (1-0) matched Adcock pitch-for-pitch and shutout the powerful Chasers offense over his seven innings while scattering five hits.

Left-hander Tommy Hottovy started the ninth in relief of Adcock and recorded an out while Michael Mariot was summoned from the bullpen and struck out the final two batters in the ninth.

Reno relievers Sam Demel, Joe Paterson and Jonathan Albaladejo combined to work the eighth and ninth innings while holding Omaha, who had not recorded a hit since the fifth inning, hitless through the last two frames.
