The Pacific Coast League has announced that Omaha Storm Chasers Assistant General Manager Laurie Schlender is the circuit's nominee for Minor League Baseball's Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year Award. Each league in Minor League Baseball nominated one woman for the honor, with the overall winner announced at the annual Baseball Winter Meetings in Orlando, Florida in December

"Laurie has been an essential part of this franchise for over ten years, and we could not be happier for her to receive this recognition," said Omaha Storm Chasers President and General Manager Martie Cordaro. "She is absolutely deserving of this honor and we congratulate her on this exceptional achievement."
Schlender in her ten-plus year tenure has been instrumental in the successes of the Omaha Storm Chasers organization. Initially serving in a part-time role as a CPA, she became a full-time employee in March 2008. One of Schlender's first full-time duties with the franchise was assisting in the forecasting and manager of the team's financial records as she helped the organization steer past years of financial struggle.
Throughout the years, added responsibilities included managing Human Resources, IT, Insurance and other general day-to-day operations of the franchise. In 2012, Schlender also took on the role of manager of the Storm Front Team Store and all Merchandise and Trademark operations. Her efforts helped lead the Storm Chasers to being recognized as among the Top 25 Organizations in merchandise sales for the 2016 season. In addition, she played a key role in the planning and execution of the First National Bank 2015 Triple-A All-Star Game at Werner Park.
In addition to her work with the Omaha Storm Chasers, Schlender has been actively involved in the local Omaha Metro community, including with St. Andres Church since it began over 15 years ago, in addition to extensive volunteer work for Millard Public Schools.
Each league in Minor League Baseball nominated one woman for the award. The overall winner will be announced during the annual Baseball Winter Meetings in Orlando, Florida in December.
