LAKE ELSINORE, CALIF. - August 3, 2017- Disabilities Awareness Night, a community event that has steadily grown the past three years, returns to The Diamond on Saturday, August 5 with over 40 families of special needs individuals gathering to recognize and discuss their life experiences with one another.
The special night begins in the stadium's Diamond Club prior to the game, where families, kids, Storm players and local dignitaries will have the opportunity to network with one another and create new friendships.
"We want them to feel special and honored and that's what this night is about," said Storm employee Kasey Rawitzer.
With the help of event sponsors Sullivan Solar Power, Tiffany's Gift, A Better Look Home Inspection and the Lake Elsinore Storm efforts for the night have raised over $4,000, including two special needs tricycles valued at $1,200 each.
The families will have the option of entering into the raffle for a chance to win one of the two tricycles.
"This will mark the seventh tricycle the Storm organization has raffled off in the past three years. It's a great opportunity to help these families out and the raffle is a big part of the night, but what we really are trying to focus on is giving these families the opportunity to network with others who share a similar life journey," Rawitzer said.
The special guests and their families, all seated together for the game, will receive on-field recognition and the two tricycle winners will be drawn during the game.
The event's announcement created a lot of buzz when it was posted on Facebook back in the beginning of June, reaching nearly 7,500 people and receiving 45 post shares.
The Lake Elsinore Strom will be taking on the Modesto Nuts on August 5 with the first pitch scheduled for 6pm. Gates will open at 5pm.
