Storm break out for 8 runs, beat first place JetHawks

Lancaster, CA-The Lake Elsinore Storm began a three game road series against the Houston Astros affiliate, the Lancaster JetHawks defeating them 8-5 and snapping an 11 road-game losing streak.

Storm starter RHP James Needy was excellent on Tuesday, pitching five innings while only giving up one earned run and one hit despite walking five batters. Needy now has a 2.81 ERA on the season.

The Lake Elsinore offense combined for 12 hits including five extra base hits and eight runs. Four Storm hitters had two hits including Cory Spangenberg (2-for-5, two runs, two doubles, RBI), Yeison Asencio (2-for-5, 3 RBIs), Luis Domoromo (2-for-5, one run), and Duanel Jones (2-for-4, run, RBI).

Storm hitters were 6-for-13 with runners in scoring position and had two three-run innings in the fifth and eighth innings to capture the victory against the first place JetHawks.

These two teams will play again Wednesday in a double header starting at 5 p.m. with the second game shortly following 30 minutes after game one is concluded. The Storm will have LHP Frank Garces on the mound for game one and LHP Brandon Alger in game two. Lancaster will counter with LHP Luis Cruz in game one and LHP Thomas Shirley will pitch game 2.
