Storm return to The Diamond but fall to 66ers

Lake Elsinore, CA-After going 3-3 on the road to start the second half of the season, the Lake Elsinore Strom began game one of a four game series at home against the Los Angeles Angels affiliate, the Inland Empire 66ers on Thirsty Thursday losing 5-3.

Storm starter RHP Trevor Holder gave the offense a chance holding the 66ers to three runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out six but didn't factor in the decision.

66ers starter LHP Eswarlin Jimenez didn't factor in the decision either, tossing four innings giving up three runs on seven hits.

The Storm offense collected 11 hits including Travis Jankowski's first home run of the season (2-for-5) in the third inning and Jace Peterson (2-for-4) hit his fifth home run of the year in the third as well. Peterson has now hit in 14 straight games and has improved his batting average to .309 on the season. Jeremy Baltz has hit in all seven games with the Storm since being called up from Fort Wayne, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Storm were not able to capitalize with runners in scoring position going 1-for-7 and leaving nine runners on base.

With the game tied 3-3 in the sixth inning, the 66ers brought seven to the plate scoring the go-ahead and eventually game winning runs with a two-run single from Joel Capote with the bases loaded.

The two teams are back at The Diamond as they play game two on Fireworks Friday. The Storm will send RHP Justin Hancock to the mound as the 66ers counter with Californian League All-Star RHP Mark Sappington with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
