Skeeters Dealt Extra-Inning Loss in Albuquerque Series Finale

(ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico) – The Sugar Land Skeeters chased a three-run ninth-inning deficit but lost 7-6 on Tuesday night to the Albuquerque Isotopes in 10 innings.

The Skeeters scored three runs in the ninth to send the game to extras. Colton Shaver and Jake Meyers delivered RBI singles, leading up to a game-tying sacrifice fly from Taylor Jones. The Isotopes ended the night with a walk-off RBI single from Nick Longhi.

Pedro León, making his Triple A debut, went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two walks. The Astros No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, drove in JJ Matijevic with a groundout in the second inning and followed with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Shaver helped kickstart the Skeeters comeback in the fifth inning with a solo home run, his second homer in as many nights.

Albuquerque tallied three runs in the first inning off Skeeters starter Nivaldo Rodriguez. Taylor Motter and Alan Trejo each homered in the inning. Isotopes catcher Brian Serven drove in three runs, with an RBI single in the fifth and two-run single in the seventh.

The Skeeters are set to open a six-game series against the Oklahoma City Dodgers, beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
