Space Cowboys Deliver 10 Runs in Win over Round Rock

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) – The Sugar Land Space Cowboys erupted for 10 runs in their third straight victory on Saturday night at Constellation Field.

A six-run fifth inning, including a two-run home run from Marty Costes, fueled a 10-1 victory over the Round Rock Express.

Brandon Bielak and JP France put together strong outings to back the offensive outburst. Bielak got the start and struck out five through five scoreless innings to pick up the win. France notched the save, striking out six through four innings, allowing one unearned run.

The Space Cowboys jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI singles from Lewis Brinson and Taylor Jones, who finished the night 3-for-4 with a double and RBI.

Yainer Diaz put the Space Cowboys up 3-0 in the third with an RBI double to score JJ Matijevic.

The Space Cowboys kicked off their five-run sixth with Jones and Franklin Barreto scoring on a wild pitch from Round Rock reliever Spencer Patton. Costes followed with his two-run homer and two more runs came across following a dropped fly ball in right field off the bat of Diaz.

Round Rock scored its lone run of the night in the eighth on an RBI single from Sam Huff.

David Hensley came across to score three times, going 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of walks. Corey Julks went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and three walks.

The Space Cowboys and Express finish out the six-game series at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday night at Constellation Field. It will be a rematch of Tuesday’s series opener, with Houston Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. to make the fourth start of his MLB Rehab Assignment opposite former Astros Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel for Round Rock.
