America & CNY Getting ON BOARD with Minor League Baseball

Minor League Baseball voted the "most family-friendly game/event experience"
November 30, 2016

The 12th annual SportsBusiness Journal/SportsBusiness Daily (SBJ/SBD) Reader Survey recently announced that Minor League Baseball was named the "league with the most family-friendly game/event experience." This is the second consecutive year that Minor League Baseball has received this title.

Matching Minor League Baseball's dedication to affordable family fun, the Syracuse Chiefs have also seen an uptick in support with the third consecutive year of increased attendance at NBT Bank Stadium. Attendance numbers have risen from 255,315 in 2014, to 262,408 in 2015, to 274,427 in 2016.

"My staff and I made a commitment to engage our fans and rebuild the connection with the Central New York community when we came in three years ago. With our commitment to be the most affordable, family fun entertainment in town, we have seen positive results with increased attendance. That commitment is still in place as we plan for another super fantastic season of Chiefs baseball in 2017," said Jason Smorol, general manager.

On average, a family of four will be able to attend a Chiefs game for only $67.00 in 2017. Comparatively, the average cost for a family of four, across all minor league baseball teams, was $64.97 in 2016. These prices include parking, two adult tickets, two child tickets, four hot dogs, two sodas and two beers.

The Chiefs also offer special promotions throughout the week that provide an even less expensive option for families to attend games. On Family Sunday, the average cost is only $53.00 for a family of four. On $1 Thursday, that same family will only cost an average of $43.00. This upcoming 2017 season, the Chiefs will have 11 Family Sundays and 13 $1 Thursdays.

In addition, the Chiefs will have 20 fireworks nights, at least 15 promotional giveaways, including 5 bobbleheads, more jersey giveaways as well as more fun and family themed nights. The Chiefs will continue to have fan favorite nights, including, Two-for-Tuesdays, Winning Wednesdays, Fireworks Fridays and Super Saturdays.
