Bernie Williams at NBT Bank Stadium: Details and Frequently Asked Questions

June 6, 2014

On Father's Day, June 15th, New York Yankees' legend Bernie Williams will be in Syracuse to perform the national anthem at that day's Chiefs' game against the Norfolk Tides. Before the 2 p.m. game, Williams will be signing autographs in the Hank Sauer Room as part of a Father's Day Brunch for the first 50 fans to register for the private appearance.

After Williams performs the anthem, he will be signing autographs on the stadium concourse for the first 100 kids through the gates, who will receive a picture of Williams. In the weeks leading up to as well as during the game, the Chiefs will be raffling off a signed bat from Williams with proceeds going towards the Syracuse Chiefs Charitable Foundation. At 8 p.m. that night, the Latin Grammy Award winner will be performing a concert at the Landmark Theatre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I get tickets for the lunch in the Hank Sauer Room?

A: Tickets can be purchased by calling the stadium box office at 315-474-7833 or by checking out our website, syracusechiefs.com. The tickets are each $100, which includes a full lunch, a 100 level ticket to that day's game and the pregame interaction with Williams.

Q: Where do the proceeds from the tickets go?

A: The money from this event goes towards a number of charitable causes. Part of the proceeds will go to the Syracuse Chiefs Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the organization. Additionally, proceeds will be divided towards the local Challenger Baseball Program, a league made specifically for those children with various special needs, the Syracuse R.B.I. Program, which aims to bring summertime baseball excitement to city youth, and Signature Music, which is a non-profit dedicated to providing teenage musicians with instruments and education. Q: What will be served for lunch?

A:The buffet lunch includes a carving station with roast beef, Italian marinated grilled chicken breast, apple walnut salad, a cheese display with assorted crackers, chilled grilled antipasta, tri-color cheese tortellini with garlic butter sauces, hot dogs, soda and water.

Q: If I have a ticket to the Hank Sauer Room, what can I have signed?

A: No sports memorabilia will be signed during Williams' visit to NBT Bank Stadium. Those in attendance for the lunch in the Hank Sauer Room will receive a photo of Williams and can have anything non-sports related signed. The first 100 children in attendance for that day's game will also receive the picture of Williams that he will sign on the stadium concourse.

Q: Will there be an autograph session for the general public?

A: Due to time constraints, Williams will not be signing for the general public. On his way up to Syracuse for a Sunday evening Landmark Theatre concert (after a Saturday night performance in New Jersey), Williams has happily agreed to stop by NBT Stadium for a short visit to help raise some funds for the Syracuse Chiefs Charitable Foundation, Challenger Baseball, the Syracuse R.B.I. Program, Signature Music and to play the National Anthem on his guitar. He then has to get over to the Landmark for rehearsals for a big show with his All-Star Band. Opening the show will be the Signature Music Student Band, part of the non-profit Signature Music Program on the Near West Side.

Q: What happens if that day's game is postponed?

A: If the game on the 15th is postponed and gates are not opened, the event in the Hank Sauer Room will still take place, but the autograph session on the concourse will not. If the gates are opened, even if the game winds up being postponed, both the lunch in the Hank Sauer Room and autograph session on the concourse will take place.

Q: What if I already have tickets to that day's game and also purchased tickets to the Hank Sauer Room event, which includes a 100 level ticket?

A: Fans that purchased a ticket for that day's game but also purchased a ticket to the event with Williams in the Hank Sauer Room, which already includes a 100 level ticket, will be given ticket vouchers for another game this season. There will not be a refund policy for fans that had previously purchased tickets to that day's game.

Q: Where can I get tickets for Williams' concert at the Landmark Theatre?

A: Fans interested in purchasing tickets for his performance that night at 8 p.m. at the Landmark Theatre can go to landmarktheatre.com or call their ticket office at 475-7980. A ticket to the Chiefs' game that day does not give you admittance to the concert.
