Top right-handed prospect promoted from Harrisburg
June 28, 2014

One of the Nationals' top prospects joined the Chiefs on Saturday. Here's a full look at Syracuse's June 28th roster update:

  • Right-handed pitcher A.J. Cole was promoted from Double-A Harrisburg to start Saturday's game. Cole currently ranks sixth in the Eastern League in ERA (2.92) in 14 starts with the Senators. He's rated the Nationals' #2 prospect by Baseball America and a Top-100 prospect in all of minor-league baseball by Baseball Prospectus and MLB.com.
  • Right-handed pitcher James Simmons was reassigned to Double-A Harrisburg. Simmons allowed four earned runs in seven innings on Friday night.
  • Left-handed pitcher Xavier Cedeño was recalled by Washington. Cedeño currently owns an ERA of 1.56 and 26 strikeouts in 17.1 Syracuse innings. This marks Cedeño's third trip to the Nationals this season.
  • Right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen was recalled by Washington as the 26th man for the Nationals' doubleheader with the Chicago Cubs. Treinen will start in game two of the doubleheader.
