Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Network unveiled

March 28, 2013

Syracuse, NY--The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce the Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Network, a new audio channel devoted to the Syracuse Chiefs.  The Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Network's first programming will be the broadcast of all 144 games through the course of the 2013 season.  The network will be available on the web at www.syracusechiefs.com and via one click on an app, created by Onseeker Technologies, for iPhone and Android.

"We are glad to offer our fans the ability to take the Chiefs anywhere,"  Chiefs General Manager John Simone said.  "I grew up listening to baseball and now more people in more places will have more chances to listen to the game we all love."

In addition to all 144 Chiefs games, the Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Network will offer new Chiefs programming over the course of the 2013 season and beyond.  Every Sunday, Chiefs play-by-play announcers Jason Benetti and Kevin Brown will recap the week that was in Syracuse Chiefs baseball on Chiefs Digest.  And every Friday, Benetti and Brown will be joined by a special guest in the booth to discuss baseball and beyond on the weekly current events quiz, Where Have You Been?  Other programming will debut during the season.

"I love listening to baseball.  I know a lot of people in this area feel the same way I do," Benetti said.  "It is my sincere hope that everyone I've met since 2009 in this community will come along with us to our new channel.  We're planning to bring you some pretty neat stuff, including the games."

Jason Benetti returns for his fourth season as the lead announcer for the Chiefs.  In the offseason, Benetti is a play-by-play announcer nationally for ESPN and locally for Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.  He also is an adjunct professor at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.  He graduated from SU in 2005.

Kevin Brown is back for his third season as a Chiefs play-by-play announcer.  In the offseason, Brown does play-by-play for MSG Varsity in the New York City area.  He is a 2011 graduate of SU.

"The team at Onseeker is extremely excited about the Syracuse Chiefs' utilization of our radio app platform for their mobile broadcasts," said Frank Danna, Communications Director at Onseeker Technologies.  "It's the first time we've created a radio app specifically for a sports team, and we're very pleased with the results. We think mobile listeners are really going to enjoy it!"

The Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Network is scheduled to debut when the Chiefs take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs Thursday at 7:05 P.M.  Pregame coverage will start at 6:50 P.M.
