July 2, 2013

TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Coast League front office today announced that pitcher Brian Moran and outfielder Carlos Peguero have been selected to represent the PCL in the 2013 Dolan Auto Group Triple-A All-Star Game. This year's event, which pits PCL All-Stars against All-Stars from the International League, is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, July 17th at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada.

Moran, 24, earned his first All-Star selection in his second season with the Rainiers. The left-hander leads Tacoma's relief staff with a 2.41 ERA (11ERx41.0IP), 41.0 innings pitched and 58 strikeouts through the first 30 appearances of his 2013 campaign. Moran ranks second among PCL relievers after producing a rate of 12.73 strikeouts per nine innings pitched this season.

A native of Port Chester, NY, Moran was selected by the Mariners in the seventh round of the 2009 draft out of the University of North Carolina. He owns an 18-15 record with a 2.87 ERA over 181 relief appearances since his professional debut. Moran boasts a 3.12 ERA through 53 games with the Rainiers since making his first Triple-A appearance 2012.

Peguero, 26, is also set to make his first Triple-A All-Star appearance in his eighth season since signing with the Mariners as a non-drafted free agent in 2005. He ranks sixth in the PCL with 54 RBI and seventh with 13 home runs over his first 65 games played with the Rainiers this season. The outfielder leads his Tacoma teammates with a .504 slugging percentage.

The season marks the second in as many years that the Rainiers have had two players featured in the Triple-A All-Star Game. Designated hitter Luis Jimenez and catcher Guillermo Quiroz were each selected to represent the PCL last season.

The 2013 Dolan Auto Group Triple-A All-Star Game will be televised live on MLB Network. The radio broadcast of the game will be carried live on South Sound Sports 850-AM and is available to be streamed online at www.tacomarainiers.com.

The Rainiers host the final two games of the current homestand at 7 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, July 3rd. Left-hander Danny Hultzen is expected to start for Tacoma in tonight's contest, with left-hander James Paxton slated to get the nod for the Rainiers tomorrow.
