Tacoma Earns Comeback Road Win In Reno, 10-6

RENO, Nevada - Eight unanswered runs late in the game sent the Tacoma Rainiers (51-44) to a 10-6 road victory over the Reno Aces (46-49) on Monday night at Greater Nevada Field.
Five Tacoma players collected multiple hits, with first baseman Gordon Beckham (3x6, 2 R, 2 2B) and center fielder Andrew Aplin (3x5, R, RBI) leading the way. They were joined by designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach (2x4, R, 2 BB), second baseman Adam Law (2x5, R, 2 RBI), and third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (2x5, R, 2 RBI).

Rainiers starting pitcher Rob Whalen worked four innings for Tacoma and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits. While returning from the disabled list, Whalen was limited to 69 pitches (42 strikes). He issued just one walk and struck out five.
Darin Gillies relieved Whalen and allowed three runs on four hits (one home run) across 1.1 innings of work. Dario Álvarez (0.2 IP), Ryan Cook (1.2 IP), and Shawn Armstrong (1.1 IP) combined to hold the Aces scoreless on just two hits over the remainder of the night. Alvarez (2-0) earned the win while Armstrong tallied his ninth save of the season.
On Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. PT Rainiers right-hander Bryan Evans (2-1, 5.20) and Aces southpaw Anthony Vazquez (6-3, 4.17) will square off for game two of the four-game series.
