T-Yanks Blanked for Second Straight Night

August 15, 2012
Tampa, Fla. - The Tampa Yankees (29-23) were shut down again tonight by the Clearwater Threshers (27-24) in a 9-0 loss. Zachary Nuding (7-3, 3.60 ERA) took to the mound for Tampa and Mario Hollands (4-1, 2.17 ERA) started for Clearwater.

The Threshers got on the board quickly in the top of the second when they had the bases loaded with one out. Singles from Edgar Duran and Peter Lavin would bring in three runners. Albert Cartwright tripled to score two more and Clearwater had a 5-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth, the Threshers added to their lead when they loaded the bases back up. Anthony Hewitt singled and two runners touched the plate to bump the score to 7-0.

Another bases loaded opportunity for Clearwater came up in the top of the ninth. The Threshers added their final two runs on a T-Yanks wild pitch and passed ball for the 9-0 win.

The third and final time these two teams will meet in the 2012 regular season is Thursday, August 16th at 7:00pm. Thirsty Thursday is sponsored by ESPN 1040 and offers fans $1 soda, $2 ice cold 14 oz. draft beer, and $3 bottled beer from 6-8:00pm.
