Smokies Fall in Front of Second Largest Crowd in Smokies Stadium History

SEVIERVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Smokies (31-40) fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts (39-34), 10-3, in front of the second largest crowd in Smokies Stadium history Friday night. 8,006 fans packed into Smokies Stadium on Friday, the largest crowd since 2017.

The Smokies led 3-0 after three innings. In the first, Nelson Maldonado scored on Brennen Davis’ RBI single. In the third, Darius Hill scored on Davis’ RBI double. Davis would come around to score on Levi Jordan’s RBI single. Wilson Garcia’s RBI single in the fourth scored the Lookouts first run of the game.

In the fifth, the Lookouts sent ten to the plate and scored six times off RHP Dakota Chalmers (L, 1-2). After the first three reached on two walks and a hit-by-pitch, Brian Rey hit a two-run double to tie the game at three. Lorenzo Cedrola followed with a two-run triple, and scored on Drew Mount’s RBI single. Jose Tello added an RBI single in the inning and extended the Lookouts lead to 7-3.

Chattanooga sent eight to the plate in the ninth and scored three more times. Rey, Cedrola, and Garcia all had RBI singles off LHP Wyatt Short to extend the Lookouts lead to 10-3.

LHP Brandon Hughes was great out of the bullpen, he allowed just one hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings. Hill, Maldonado, Davis, and Jordan all had two hits. Davis had two RBI, Jordan drove in one.

The Smokies and Lookouts continue their six game series at Smokies Stadium Saturday night. First pitch between RHP Javier Assad (2-5, 5.07) and LHP Connor Curlis (4-6, 4.84) is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Fans can hear all Smokies games by going to https://www.milb.com/tennessee/fans/audio-listen-live.

Saturday night at Smokies Stadium is Elvis Night presented by The Diner. Fans can enjoy themed music, in-between inning entertainment, and a post game Elvis tribute concert. There will also be a post game fireworks show presented by Pepsi and Coors Light.
