Smokies Walk-Off in Game One, Fall 4-2 in Night Cap

KODAK, TN - The Tennessee Smokies (9-7) and Chattanooga Lookouts (6-10) split their doubleheader Monday at Smokies Stadium Monday night. Charcer Burks hit a walk-off single with two-outs in the seventh to give the Smokies a 7-6 win. Major League Rehabber LHP Mike Montgomery allowed three runs on three hits with three stikeouts in four innings. In Game Two, the Lookouts scored three runs over the first two innings and did not look back.
Robel Garcia hit a two-out, two-run home run to center field in the first to start the days' scoring. In the second, Montgom- ery helped his own cause, with runners on the corners, he put down a sacrifice bunt , scoring Connor Myers, to extend the Smokies' lead. Montgomery allowed a two-out single to the Lookouts RHP Rob Wooten, then walked T.J. Friedl ahead of Jose Siri who tied the game with a three-run home run to right field.
Three straight singles to open up the fourth loaded the bases for the Smokies. Jhonny Pereda reached on a fielder's choice to score P.J. Higgins. Charcer Burks scored from second on Brantley Bell's throwing error to give Tennessee a 5-3 lead.
Friedl reached on a Higgins error at first in the sixth and scored on Siri's double to cut the score to 5-4. Taylor Trammell tied the game with an RBI-single, scoring Siri. Trammell stole second, moved to third on a fly out, and scored the go-ahead run on Tyler Stephenson's RBI-single.
Pereda grounded out with runners on the corners in the sixth, scoring Burks, to re-tie the game at six. Jared Young hit a one-out single in the seventh, moved to second on a walk, and scored the game-winning run on Burks walk-off RBI-single. LHP Manuel Rondon (W, 2-2) picked up the win to even up his record, he allowed a hit and hit a batter in a scoreless inning.
Narciso Crook led Game Two off with a double, tagged and went to third on a pop out to first base, and scored on Trammell's RBI-groundout. Nico Hoerner tied the game with an inside the park home run, his first Southern League home run.
RHP Thomas Hatch (L, 0-2) hit the first batter in the second, then surrendered a two-run home run down the left field line to Brantley Bell. Hatch led off the third with a walk and came around to score on Young's RBI-groundout to cut the score to 3-2.
Chris Okey hit an RBI-single in the seventh to provide the Lookouts with insurance. RHP Ryan Hendrix (W, 2-0) allowed two hits and a walk in two innings to earn the win. RHP Alex Powers (S, 2) allowed a hit in a scoreless ninth for his second save.
The Smokies and Lookouts will continue their series Wednesday night at Smokies Stadium. RHP Cory Abbott (1-0, 1.65) will start for Tennessee against Tejay Antone (1-1, 3.71).
