With just a few weeks of fun remaining in the 2017 Thunder season, the team and the Eastern League announced the first look at the 2018 schedule this afternoon.
The Thunder will begin the 2018 campaign with a seven-game homestand against the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants) and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays). Opening Night, presented by ARM & HAMMER will take place on Thursday, April 6 at 7:00pm when the Thunder host the Flying Squirrels.
ARM & HAMMER Park and your Thunder will play host to the 2018 Eastern League All-Star Classic as part of the Thunder's 25th Anniversary Season. On Tuesday, July 10, the Thunder will host the Home Run Derby, presented by Case's Pork Roll. Wednesday, July 11 will feature the Western and Eastern Division Teams of the Eastern League facing off in the Mid-Summer Classic.
2018 will feature 22 games with rivals of the New York Yankees playing at ARM & HAMMER Park. The Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) will travel to ARM & HAMMER Park for ten total games, May 7-9, May 29-31, and August 31-September 3. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (New York Mets) will make two trips to Trenton in 2018, June 8-10 and June 19-21. The rival Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) will take on the Thunder at ARM & HAMMER Park twice; April 20-22and August 26-29.
The team will play 13 home games in April, 17 in May, 14 in June, 14 in July, nine in August and three in September. The Thunder play 70 home games against all 11 Eastern League opponents. All affiliates between Eastern League teams and MLB Parent clubs will remain the same as 2017.
Mid-week day games will continue at ARM & HAMMER Park in 2018 with 10:30am "Education Day" games slated forWednesday April 25, Wednesday May 9, and Wednesday May 16. Special "Camp Day" games are scheduled for Wednesday July 25 and Wednesday August 8.
The schedule for fireworks dates and promotions for 2018 will be released at a later date.
