Brody Koerner Named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week

The Eastern League announced Monday and RHP Brody Koernerwas named the League's Player of the Week for the week of July 3rd - July 9th.
In his first two starts in Double-A, Koerner has thrown 13.1 scoreless innings across victories over the Reading Fightin Phils on July 4th and New Hampshire Fisher Cats on July 9th.
Koerner, who went 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA in six starts for High-A Tampa before his call-up, was drafted in the 17th round by the Yankees in 2015 out of Clemson University. Overall in his two starts made with the Thunder he's allowed 13 hits, one walk and struck out seven. His 13.1 scoreless innings are the third-longest streak to start a double-A in franchise history, trailing Domingo Acevedo (19 innings) and Dietrich Enns (24.2 innings).
Koerner's honor sets a new franchise record for the Thunder by becoming the eighth weekly award winner this season. The Thunder have also set a new record for the most players named to the league's weekly award with six different players Chance Adams (April 6-16), Yefry Ramirez (May 15-21), Justus Sheffield (May 22-28 and June 12-18), Ronald Herrera (June 5-11), Billy McKinney (June 12-18) and Jorge Mateo (June 29-July 3) earning it in 2017.
