The Eastern League announced Friday that INF Thairo Estrada has been named to the 2017 Season Ending All-Star Team.
Estrada collected three hits in his Double-A debut for the Thunder on April 8th, and he hasn't stopped hitting since, batting .298 (139-for-467) with 19 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 67 runs scored, and 41 RBIs in 115 games this season. Estrada, who is rated by MLB.com as the 18th best prospect in the New York Yankees organization, is currently ranked among the league leaders in hits (139-2nd), runs scored (67-4th), and batting average (.298-7th). Thairo was also named to the Eastern Division roster for the 2017 Eastern League All-Star Game in New Hampshire. He started at shortstop in the game and went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and one run scored in the Eastern Division's 7-1 victory.
Estrada is the lone representative for the Thunder on the season ending team. The Thunder had two players, INF Tyler Wade and LHP Jordan Montgomery named to the squad in 2016.
