The Thunder bats fell silent in the series finale against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, who took the rubber game, 4-0 on Wednesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.
New Hampshire starter Jordan Romano pitched seven scoreless innings, limiting the Thunder to three hits while striking out seven. Ben Ruta singled twice off Romano and Trey Amburgey doubled, but the three hits accounted for the only Thunder baserunners through the first seven innings.
Domingo Acevedo labored through his first two innings for the Thunder before settling down to retire nine of the final 11 batters he faced. After the right-hander walked Cavan Biggio to open the second inning, Biggio stole second and scored on a Harold Ramirez single. Ramirez later stole third base and scored on a dropped throw at the plate by Chase Numata.
New Hampshire added two runs against left-hander James Reeves in the seventh on RBI singles by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Lourdes Gurriel.
Justin Shafer and Andrew Case each tossed one scoreless inning of relief for the Fisher Cats, handing the Thunder the series loss.
Gosuke Katoh went 0-for-3 with a walk, ending his team-best hitting streak at six games.
