Justus Sheffield earned his second EL Player of the Week award this season with a 2-0 mark this week. Sheffield threw six innings of one-run ball on Tuesday night at Hartford and completed the week with his first career shutout; a seven inning shutout of the Erie SeaWolves on Sunday afternoon. For the season, Sheffield is 6-4 with a 2.99 ERA. In 75.1 innings pitched he's allowed 73 hits and 25 walks, he's struck out 64 batters. Sheffield's 2.99 ERA ranks seventh in the Eastern League and he's tied for second in the league in strikeouts.

The Thunder continue to dominate the Eastern League's weekly awards. Chance Adams (April 6-16), Yefry Ramirez (May 15-21), and Justus Sheffield (May 22-28 and June 12-18) have all been named Pitcher of the Week, matching the Thunder franchise record with the 2008 season when four different Thunder pitchers earned the weekly award.

With McKinney's honor, the Thunder have tied the franchise record with six weekly award winners. In 2006, three different Thunder players (Shelley Duncan, Tyler Clippard, and Randy Ruiz) were honored a combined six times.

The Thunder begin a six game road trip to Altoona and Reading this week and return to ARM & HAMMER Park on Monday, June 26 at 7:00pm for a four-game series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. For tickets and the latest information on Thunder baseball visit
