Tides announce Opening Day roster

The Norfolk Tides and their parent club, the Baltimore Orioles, have announced the Tides Opening Day roster for the 2018 season. The roster features 13 pitchers and 12 position players, and the team will once again be managed by Ron Johnson.

The Norfolk Tides and their parent club, the Baltimore Orioles, have announced the Tides Opening Day roster for the 2018 season. The roster features 13 pitchers and 12 position players, and the team will once again be managed by Ron Johnson.

Joining Johnson are Pitching Coach Mike Griffin, Hitting Coach Butch Davis, Field Coach José Hernández, Athletic Trainer Chris Poole and Strength and Conditioning Coach Trevor Howell. 
Norfolk's pitching staff will consist of starters Yefry Ramírez (slated to take the mound in tonight's opener vs. Gwinnett), Jayson Aquino, David Hess, Tim Melville and Jimmy Yacabonis, and relievers Josh Edgin, Andrew Faulkner, Donnie Hart, Jhan Mariñez, Joely Rodríguez, Tanner Scott, Asher Wojciechowski and Matt Wotherspoon
The Tides Opening Day roster features five infielders: Drew Dosch, Garabez Rosa, Luis Sardiñas, Rubén Tejada and Engelb Vielma. Manning the outfield for Norfolk will be Jaycob Brugman, Alex Presley, Joey Rickard, Michael Saunders and DJ Stewart. The Tides will open the season with two catchers: Andrew Susac and Austin Wynns.  
Four players will open the season on Norfolk's Disabled List: pitchers Eddie Gamboa, Chris Lee and Ryan O'Rourke and catcher Joel Polanco.  
The Tides open their 2018 campaign tonight vs. Gwinnett, with first pitch from Harbor Park slated for 7:05 pm. The game can be heard live on ESPN Radio 94.1 and watched live on MiLB.tv. The first 10,000 fans will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of John's Tax Service, and there will be a pregame ceremony honoring local first responders.
