Tides blanked at Durham Thursday

The Tides managed just two hits in a 9-0 setback to the Durham Bulls Thursday night. 

Three Durham pitchers combined on the two-hit shutout, with Alex Colome (1-0) picking up the win after tossing six scoreless innings.  Colome, who held the Tides scoreless over five innings in his previous outing, walked two and struck out seven. 

Adam Liberatore and Josh Leuke also combined on the shutout for Durham, which improved its record to an IL-best 7-1 with the victory. 

Jair Jurrjens (0-1) took the loss after yielding two runs on four hits in 5.1 innings.  Jurrjens walked four while striking out two, throwing 54 of his 93 pitches for strikes. 

Yamaico Navarro doubled and L.J. Hoes singled for Norfolk, which fell to 1-4 vs. Durham this season. 

The two clubs will wrap up their brief two-game set on Friday night, with first pitch from Durham Bulls Athletic Park set for 7:05.  Freddy Garcia will take the mound for Norfolk against Bulls right-hander J.D. Martin.
