Yes Soup For You! Tides Host Soup Cook-Off

Soup Nazi to serve as celebrity judge
May 13, 2013

It's time to settle the debate and determine who makes the best soup in Hampton Roads. Celebrity judge Larry Thomas, known for his role as "The Soup Nazi" on Seinfeld, will be at Harbor Park on Friday, May 31 to judge your best soup. One lucky winner will take home the title and all the bragging rights because, let's face it, it's tough to impress The Soup Nazi.

Registration

The registration fee is $50 and that includes two ticket vouchers for the Tides game on May 31st. A portion of the proceeds collected will be donated to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

Soup

Entrants must arrive at Harbor Park with soup ready to serve. The Tides will not provide any time or resources for entrants to prepare their soups or heat their soups. All soups must be ready for tasting at 6:00 PM.

The Tides request that entrants arrive with a reasonable amount of soup for judging. An ideal amount for judging would be 1 Quart (serves 2-4 people).

All soups must be inspired by the soups featured in "The Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld. Entrants have the freedom to decide exactly how these soups should be prepared, but all soups should fit one of the following categories:

  • Turkey Chili
  • Crab Bisque
  • Mulligatawny
  • Gazpacho
  • Wild Mushroom
