Rattlers take game one from Kane County

Wisconsin beats Cougars 11-1

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Clint Coulter drove in four runs and Andy Moye made a solid start for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in game one of a doubleheader against the Kane County Cougars on Tuesday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The Rattlers defeated Kane County 11-1.

Chris McFarland and Coulter gave the Timber Rattlers an early lead. McFarland singled with one out. Coulter doubled to left on the next pitch and McFarland scored all the way from first for a 1-0 advantage.

Coulter made it 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning with a two-out, two-run double.

Kane County (28-16) got to Timber Rattlers Moye for a run in the top of the third. Ben Carhart singled and Will Remillard doubled to put runners on second and third with no outs. Jacob Rogers grounded out with one away to score Carhart from third, but that was it for the Cougars in the fourth.

The Timber Rattlers (21-22) responded in a big way in the bottom of the fourth. Wisconsin scored five runs on five hits as they sent nine men to the plate to take an 8-1 lead. Johnny Davis started the inning with a one out single. McFarland tripled to right to drive in Davis. Coulter picked up his fourth RBI of the game when he singled through the drawn-in infield to send McFarland home. 

Jose Pena drew a walk and Michael Ratterree doubled down the line in left to get both Coulter and Pena home. Taylor Brennan capped the inning with an RBI single to center that scored Ratterree.

Moye allowed a run on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks in 5-1/3 innings.

The Rattlers put the game away in the bottom of the sixth. Coulter drew a leadoff walk and Pena followed with a single. Ratterree doubled and Coulter scored. A wild pitch with Brennan at the plate let Pena score. Brennan finished off the scoring in game one with a single to drive in Ratterree.
