Timber Rattlers Groundskeeper Gets the Call to the Big Leagues

Eddie Warczak moves up to the Brewers
February 5, 2014

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Eighteen players on the current Milwaukee Brewers 40-man roster played for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Now, the Brewers have "called up" another member of their Midwest League affiliate to the Majors. Eddie Warczak has been hired by the Brewers as the Grounds Manager at Miller Park.

Warczak had been the Head Groundskeeper for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers since the end of the 2007 season. In his first year as the Heads Groundskeeper - 2008, Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium won Sports Turf Managers Association Professional Baseball Field of the Year.

Warczak maintained that level of excellence for the home of the Timber Rattlers over his next five seasons as the man in charge of the field.

"Eddie has done a great job for us since he came on as an assistant groundskeeper," said Timber Rattlers President Rob Zerjav. "The field gets a lot of use with our 70 games, the WIAA State Tournament, the NCAA Division III College World Series, several high school games, and the annual charity softball game. But, the grass was always green, the infield was always in great shape, and coaches from visiting teams always complimented him on the condition of the field."

The Timber Rattlers have already filled the Head Groundskeeper position by hiring Jake Hannes, a grounds crew intern with the team in 2010. Hannes joins the Timber Rattlers after spending the last two seasons as a member of the grounds crew for the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
