Fort Wayne, IN - Fort Wayne TinCaps outfielder Alberth Martinez crushed a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning, turning a 5-3 deficit into a 7-5 advantage that ended up the final score in favor of the TinCaps. The home run was the second in two days for Martinez, who helped Fort Wayne to finish a six-game homestand with a 4-2 mark.

The TinCaps trailed by two heading into the eighth, having scattered six hits over the first seven frames. Fort Wayne needed only two hits, however, to spark a rally in the game's penultimate frame. Jeremy Baltz, facing reliever Matthew Vedo (1-1), connected on a one-out single to right field. Gabriel Quintana then walked, and Corey Adamson followed suit two batters later. With the bases loaded, Martinez hit a Vedo pitch over the wall in left, erasing the two-run shortfall.

Chris Nunn (1-0) picked up the win, working the eighth, and Roman Madrid earned his fifth save in as many opportunities.

Fort Wayne (14-10) starter Walker Weickel surrendered five runs, four earned, over a season high 5 1/3 innings of work. He walked three and struck out two batters. Clinton (11-12) starting pitcher Victor Sanchez breezed through six innings, surrendering three runs.

The TinCaps now venture into Iowa and Illinois for a six-game road trip, facing the Burlington Bees for three games and the Peoria Chiefs for three. Wednesday's game, scheduled for a 7:30 ET first pitch, has Joe Ross scheduled to start for Fort Wayne against Burlington's Aaron Newcomb. The game can be heard on The Fan 1380 and TheFanFortWayne.com.
