Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne TinCaps were one of Minor League Baseball's Top 25 teams in licensed merchandise sales in 2012, according to an MiLB announcement on Monday. The TinCaps have made the Top 25 out of 160 teams in MiLB merchandise sales in each year of their existence.

"The popularity of our logo helps a lot," said Karen Schieber, TinCaps Merchandise Manager. "You go out in the Fort Wayne community and you find so many people wearing TinCaps gear and saying how much they like the logo."

The TinCaps merchandise sales for 2012 include those made at The Orchard Team Store at Parkview Field, in addition to sales at the TinCaps Holiday Store at the Glenbrook Square Mall in Fort Wayne and online at TinCaps.com.

"Having The Orchard Team Store at Parkview Field open year round is extremely beneficial," Schieber said. "We have traffic come through the store all the time, instead of just when the team is playing. Our Holiday Store at Glenbrook Square Mall also allows us to reach more TinCaps fans."

In the last year, Schieber said she has received online orders for TinCaps products from 42 of the 48 Continental United States. Purchases of Fort Wayne merchandise have also been internationally.

Schieber said future TinCaps merchandise sales are likely to increase going forward, too. For 2013, the TinCaps are one of only 36 clubs contracted with the MiLB Replica Program, which allows Little League teams from across the country to use the TinCaps logo.

The Orchard Team Store at Parkview Field is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on non-game days and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on game days. The store reopens on game days when Parkview Field's gates open. The TinCaps' online team store can be found at TinCaps.com.
