TinCaps Recognized for Marketing & Promotions

Midwest League Nominates Fort Wayne for Larry MacPhail Promotional Award
September 19, 2013

Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne TinCaps were named as the Midwest League nominee for the Larry MacPhail Promotional Award, as they were recognized by the Midwest League for their marketing and promotional efforts during the 2013 season. This marks the third time in five years that Fort Wayne has been nominated for the national award, which is given to one team in Minor League Baseball.

According to a news release from the Midwest League, the Larry MacPhail Promotional Award is "presented to a club that demonstrated outstanding and creative marketing and promotional efforts within its community, its ballpark (including non-game day events), in media and other promotional materials."

"We are extremely proud to be recognized by the Midwest League with this nomination," said Michael Limmer, TinCaps Vice President - Marketing and Promotions. "This is a reflection of the hard work put in by our staff to create a unique and memorable experience for each of our fans every time they pass through the gates at Parkview Field. With at least 70 home dates each season, we strive to make each ballgame different from the one that preceded it."

The TinCaps Marketing department is led by Limmer and also includes Creative Director Tony DesPlaines, Assistant Director of Marketing - Community Relations Abby Naas, Video Production Manager Melissa Darby, Assistant Video Production Manager David Hentz, and Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager Mike Couzens. The team was also the Midwest League nominee for the Larry MacPhail Promotional Award following the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

One of the team's most popular promotions was its jersey for Social Media Night on June 13. The jersey, which received recognition from ESPN and many other national outlets, featured the Twitter handles of more than 6,000 of the team's fans.

The team also held an "It's All About You" night August 23, giving control of many of the game's elements to the fans. Items that were put up for a fan vote included the jersey selections of both the TinCaps and their visitors, the game program cover and the field mowing pattern.

The TinCaps open their 2014 season April 3 at Parkview Field at 7:05 p.m. against the Great Lakes Loons.
