DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Florida State League announced, today, that Daytona Cubs outfielder John Andreoli, infielder Javier Baez, infielder Dustin Geiger and outfielder Jorge Soler were named 2013 First-Half All-Stars.

Andreoli, 22, was named a 2012 End of Season All-Star in the FSL. The product of Worcester, MA leads the team in hitting (.316) and on-base percentage (.388) amongst Cubs with at least 100 at-bats. After stealing 55 bases to lead the FSL in 2012, Andreoli is second on the team with 15 stolen bases in 2013. Andreoli is just one of seven Florida State League hitters to have an average of .310 or better, with his .316 clip ranking as the sixth-best mark in the league. His .388 OBP is fifth-best in the league, while his 15 stolen bases are sixth-most in the FSL. Andreoli has a .377 batting average with runners on base. Andreoli was selected in the 17th round of the 2011 draft by the Chicago out of the University of Connecticut.

Baez, 20, is an All-Star for the first time in his professional career. Baez played 23 games for Daytona in 2012 and began 2013 in Daytona. The Bayamon, PR native earned Baez Florida State League Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 28. Baez leads the Cubs with nine home runs, 111 total bases, 16 doubles, 40 runs scored and a .519 slugging percentage. His 36 RBIs trails only Geiger for the team lead. Baez is hitting .302 with runners in scoring position. Baez ranks in the top-10 in the FSL in multiple offensive categories. He is second in runs scored, third in total bases, tied for sixth in home runs and tied for eighth in both doubles and RBIs. On June 1 against Brevard County, Baez went 5-6 with a home run, three doubles, three runs and six runs batted in. Ranked as Baseball America's  16th-best overall prospect in all of baseball prior to the 2013 season, Baez was selected 9th overall in the first round by the Chicago Cubs in the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, FL.

Geiger, 21, is an All-Star for the first time in his professional career. Geiger has been one of the Cubs' stalwarts in the middle of the lineup, playing in all but one of Daytona's 55 games this season while compiling a .303 batting average in 201 at-bats. The infielder leads the Cubs in RBIs with 47, and ranks second in the FSL in that statistic, only one behind Kennys Vargas of Fort Myers for the league lead. Geiger's .303 batting average is also good for eighth-best in the FSL. The Merritt Island, FL native is tied for the team lead in hits with 61, ranks second among Cubs with 15 doubles and 96 total bases and sits third on the team with six home runs to his credit this season. Geiger was named Chicago Cubs organizational player of the month for May, and was named Florida State League Player of the Week for May 13-19. Geiger is in his fourth season of professional baseball and his first in the FSL after being drafted in the 24th round of the 2010 draft out of Merritt Island High School.

Soler, 21, is an All-Star for the first time in his professional career in his first full professional season. Soler was signed to a nine-year major league contract last year. His eight home runs and 35 runs scored rank him second on the team in both categories only to Baez. His 35 runs scored are also good for fifth overall in the Florida State League. The Havana, Cuba native is hitting .294 (53-for-180) for the season, with an on-base percentage of .363 and a slugging percentage of an even .500, giving him a team-best OPS of .863 among qualifiers. In addition to his eight home runs, Soler has also recorded 11 doubles and one triple thus far in 2013. Soler was named Florida State League Player of the Week for May 6-12 when he went 7-for-15 (.467) in a four-game stretch with two home runs, four runs batted in, three doubles, one triple and five runs scored. Soler is in his second professional season and first in the FSL after being signed as an international free agent on June 30, 2012.
