ASHEVILLE-- The Asheville Tourists beat the Augusta GreenJackets 2-1 on Saturday in the series opener at McCormick Field. Tourists starting pitcher Riley Pint tossed a season high six innings and matched a season high with six strikeouts.
Pint retired the first two batters he faced in every inning except for the sixth. In his final inning, the right-hander worked out of a runners at second and third, one out jam by striking out Michael Bernal and inducing a groundout off the bat of Jose Vizcaino.

Augusta's only run of the game came in the first. Kelvin Beltre scored on a Tourists error. Asheville tied the game in the bottom of the third. Willie Abreu delivered an infield single with Brian Serven at third. In the fourth inning, the Tourists took the lead when Max George scored on a sacrifice fly by Serven.
Matt Dennis tossed two innings of scoreless baseball in relief of Pint and Reid Humphreys worked a perfect ninth to earn his fifth save of the year. Pint allowed only three hits in his six innings of work and notched his second victory of the season.
With the win, Asheville matched their first half home win total. The Tourists went 10-21 at McCormick Field prior to the All-Star Break; they are 10-5 in front of the home faithful since. Both teams are back in action on Sunday afternoon with a 2:05pm start time.
