Hudson Highlights 9-4 Win At Tulsa

Tulsa, Okla.  - Kyle Hudson led the Arkansas Travelers to a 9-4 victory over the Tulsa Drillers on Tuesday night at ONEOK Field. The centerfielder collected three base hits, while scoring two runs and driving in two more helping the Travs to their second win in a row. Catcher Anderson De La Rosa provided a two-run double as part of a game-breaking rally in the sixth inning that saw the Travs score six times to take control of the game.

Tulsa's fielders aided the Travs with four errors on Tuesday, including a pair of errors by shortstop Joey Wong, that helped the Travs score five unearned runs. The victory helps the Travs improve to 10-15 on the season.

Hudson started the game with a single then stole second base. Wong misplayed a ground ball hit by Zach Borenstein allowing Hudson to score for a 1-0 Travs lead in the first inning.

Travs starter Yeiper Castillo walked four Drillers in five innings, including the first batter of the game. Taylor Featherston then stole second with Wong batting. On a wild pitch, Featherston broke for third base and scored when De La Rosa threw wildly into left field. Not only did the Travs commit their first error in 91 innings, but the game was tied 1-1.

Eric Stamets hit a single to begin the third inning which Andy Workman followed with a line drive to center field where Tyler Massey misjudged the ball and dropped it for a two-base error putting runners at second and third. Both scored when Hudson drove a single to left field for a 3-1 Travs lead.

Aside from his four walks, Castillo also hit three batters including Tom Murphy to begin the fourth. Harold Riggins singled and Castillo hit Jayson Langfels with a pitch for the second time to load the bases. Jared Simon's sacrifice fly knocked in Murphy.

Wong walked to begin the Tulsa fifth inning and advanced to third on a double by Dustin Garneau. With the infield playing back, Wong scored the tying run on an RBI groundout by Brian Humphries.

Nelson Gonzalez relieved for the Drillers in the sixth inning and struggled immediately. Hudson reached on a drag bunt single then was balked to second base. Second baseman Alex Yarbrough knocked him home with a double to the right field corner. Borenstein's RBI single scored Yarbrough from second base, then Wong misplayed a grounder hit by Brian Hernandez putting runners at first and third. Hernandez stole second after Wong delivered the ball back to Gonzalez and nobody covered second base. Kaleb Cowart scored Borenstein with a single to right field then stole second and scored on De La Rosa's double. Andy Workman's two-out single knocked De La Rosa home to cap the inning with a 9-3 lead.

Brandon Sisk allowed a run on three base hits in the sixth inning. Kevin Johnson whiffed two batters in the seventh without allowing a base hit. R.J. Alvarez closed the game with three strikeouts in two shutout innings.

Castillo (2-2) earned the win for the Travs with three runs allowed on two hits and four walks. He struck out three and also mixed in a wild pitch.

Time of game was 3:22 and the paid attendance was 4,379.

The Travs try for their third straight win on Wednesday with a morning game at Tulsa. Mark Sappington (0-3, 6.04) is due to pitch for the Travelers against Tulsa's Richard Castillo (1-1, 2.35). The game is set for an 11:05 first pitch.
