The Thunder took an early lead over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and never looked back, cruising to a 10-4 win on Tuesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.
The Thunder jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the second against Fisher Cats starter Francisco Rios on a Mandy Alvarez RBI single and a run-scoring groundout by Ryan Lidge, making his double-A debut.
In the third, Gosuke Katoh and Jhalan Jackson both launched solo home runs off Rios, with Katoh extending his hitting streak to six games and Jackson stretch his team-leading home run total to four.
A five-run seventh inning padded Trenton's lead, as Alvarez lined a two-run triple and scored on a wild pitch, and Chris Gittens contributed a two-RBI single. Alvarez led the Thunder with three hits in the game, while Vince Conde paced the club with three walks.
The offensive attack backed five strong innings by starter Erik Swanson, who held New Hampshire to one unearned run on four hits while striking out five. Kaleb Ort, Jordan Foley and Caleb Frare pitched the rest of the way in relief, holding the Fisher Cats to three runs the rest of the way to seal the victory and tie the series at one win apiece.
