A big night at the plate led the Tri-City Dust Devils (17-20, 35-40) to the 5-3 victory on Sundday over the Everett AquaSox (17-20, 37-38). Luis Asuncion hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning to help the Dust Devils jump out to an early lead.
Starting pitcher Adrian Martinez earned his fourth win of the season after a strong outing for Tri-City. Martinez allowed only one run in five innings of work. Asuncion along with Xavier Edwards and Kelvin Alarcon each had multiple hits in the victory. The Dust Devils turned to Jordan Guerrero late after Everett cut the team's lead down to two runs. Guerrero slammed the door shut on the AquaSox to pick up his team-high eighth save of the year.
Tri-City will send right-hander Manny Guzman to the mound in the season finale on Monday. Everett will counter with right-hander Elias Espino. First pitch from Everett Memorial Stadium will be at 4:05 pm.
