Four errors on Saturday night derailed the Tri-City Dust Devils (16-20) as the team fell 5-2 in the series opener to the Vancouver Canadians (13-23). The Dust Devils committed four errors in the loss to Vancouver.
Tri-City starting pitcher Ethan Elliott had a strong outing in the loss. He pitched 3.1 scoreless innings and finished the night with five strikeouts. Elliott has only allowed 1 run in 14.1 innings of work this summer, giving him a miniscule 0.63 ERA. Jordy Barley added a solo home run in the loss for the Dust Devils while Matthew Acosta and Carlos Luis each had multi-hit games.
The road series will continue with a matinee game on Sunday. First pitch from Nat Bailey Stadium is set for 1:05 pm. Right-hander Nick Thwaits will toe the rubber for Tri-City. Vancouver will counter with right-hander Adam Koffenstein. The Dust Devils will return to Gesa Stadium on Tuesday to start a three-game series against the Spokane Indians.
