The comeback bid come up short for the Tri-City Dust Devils (4-7) on Monday night at PK Park as the team lost 5-3 to the Eugene Emeralds (7-4). Tri-City loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning, but the Dust Devils were unable to complete the rally
In the first inning Tri-City jumped out to an early lead. The Dust Devils got back-to-back RBI base hits with two from Nick Gatewood and Mason House to give the team the 3-0 edge. The advantage for Tri-City didn't last long. The Emeralds scored four runs in the second inning, giving them a lead they would not relinquish. Eugene's pitching staff was able to silence the Tri-City offense the rest of the night, keeping the Dust Devils scoreless over the final eight innings of the game.
The road trip will continue for Tri-City on Tuesday night in Spokane. Left-hander Ethan Elliott will start the first game of the three-game series against the Indians. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. from Avista Stadium. The Dust Devils will return to Gesa Stadium on Friday, June 28 to begin a six-game homestand.
