The Tri-City Dust Devils (11-13) fell to the Spokane Indians (15-10) in both games of a doubleheader Sunday at Avista Stadium, 5-4 in game one and 6-1 in a 7-inning game two.

The Sunday sweep also gave Spokane a series sweep, four games to none, with two games lost due to cold, rainy and unstable weather in the Lilac City.

Sunday’s game one saw Friday’s game resumed in the top of the 2nd inning, with a 1-0 Tri-City lead. After Spokane tied the game 1-1 in the 3rd, the Dust Devils struck for three runs in the 4th on a pair of left field longballs.

Gabe Matthews led off the inning with a high fly that just snuck just inside the foul pole for a 2-1 Tri-City lead. Later in the inning, Christian Molfetta hit a two-run shot down the line and just over the wall, stretching the Dust Devil lead to 4-1. The home runs for Matthews and Molfetta both were their first of the season.

The Indians would get two in the 7th to get within 4-3 and, in the bottom of the 9th, scored two runs off of Nick Jones (1-1) to get the walkoff 5-4 win over Tri-City.

Game 2 saw Spokane grab an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, on a 2-run home run off of Nick Mondak (0-2). The Indians would hold the lead for the entire game, with a 3rd-inning Jordyn Adams RBI single bringing home the Dust Devils’ only run.

Tri-City looks to regroup back at Gesa Stadium, where they’ll begin a six-game series against the Everett AquaSox at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday night. It’s also a Coca-Cola Tuesday, with 21 oz. Coca-Cola products available for just $2.
