The Tri-City Dust Devils (14-26 2H, 43-60) got off to another quick start Friday night, but the Everett AquaSox (19-21 2H, 50-55) slugged the ball both out of the park and around it to come back for a 6-1 victory at Gesa Stadium.

The Dust Devils drew first blood in the bottom of the 1st inning. 2B Kyren Paris tripled down the right field line in his first at-bat, putting himself 90 feet away with one out. SS Osmy Gregorio then hit a liner to left field that was caught, but it flew far enough to score Paris for a 1-0 lead.

Tri-City starter Brent Killam (1-2) got off to a strong start, getting through his first three innings scoreless. AquaSox C David Sheaffer got to the lefty in the top of the 4th inning, though, lining a ball over the left field fence to tie the game at 1-1.

Everett hit solo home runs in the 5th and 6th innings to take and extend the lead. DH Robert Perez, Jr. hit a high fly ball to left in the 5th, with a strengthening wind shoving it out for a 2-1 lead. In the 6th inning RF Alberto Rodriguez played the wind, sending one high to left and out to push the lead to 3-1.

The game remained close in the middle innings, with two Dust Devils chances erased in double plays turned by the AquaSox. Everett turned four double plays on the night, aiding starter Juan Mercedes (6-6) in getting through seven innings giving up the lone run and striking out eight. The Dust Devils turned two double plays in their own right.

The AquaSox blew the game open in the 8th inning. Singles by Sheaffer and Rodridguez put two on with one out. 1B Dariel Gomez then hit a high fly ball to left center field, carrying toward the fence. Tri-City CF D’Shawn Knowles leapt up to try to make the catch against the wall, but it bounced off him and ran along the fence line toward left field. Gomez ran all the way around for a 3-run inside-the-park homer, his league-leading 21st of the season, giving Everett a 6-1 lead that ended up the final score.

Offensively, Dust Devils RF Steven Rivas had a multi-hit game, with a double and single in his first two at-bats. Gregorio, 1B Gabe Matthews and DH Joe Stewart added hits as well.

Tri-City and Everett come back to Gesa Stadium for game five of their six-game series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night, with lefty Jose Salvador (2-6, 5.23 ERA) starting for the Dust Devils and righty Bryan Woo (1-0, 2.00 ERA) going for the AquaSox.
