The offense was held quiet for the second straight night as the Tri-City Dust Devils (5-10, 23-30) fell 1-0 to the Hillsboro Hops (9-6, 33-20) on Friday at Gesa Stadium. Joey Rose's solo home run in the top of the eighth inning proved to the difference in the game.
Tri-City received a strong performance from the pitching staff throughout the night in the loss. Omar Cruz, Jonathan Guzman, Korey Anderson, Cody Tyler and Joe Galindo combined to hold the Hops to only one run. The Dust Devils were led at the plate by Luis Asuncion and Grant Little. Asuncion had a team-high three hits and Little added a pair of singles in the loss.
Right-hander Angel Acevedo will start the middle game of the five-game series for Tri-City on Saturday night. Hillsboro will counter with right-hander Luis Frias. There will be a postgame fireworks show presented by Cascade Natural Gas.
