The Tri-City Dust Devils (18-15, 34-37) suffered a 8-7 walk-off loss to the Vancouver Canadians (15-18, 30-41) on Wednesday night at Nat Bailey Stadium. The Dust Devils are now 0-7 on the road against the Canadians this year.
Despite having the lead on four different occasions Tri-City's bullpen was not able to hold on to the edge. The long ball played a major factor in the Dust Devils success at the plate. Logan Driscoll had a solo blast in the sixth inning and Mason House delivered a two-run bomb in the eighth inning. Tri-City entered the bottom of the ninth inning with a one-run lead, but Vancouver ultimately rallied to come away with the walk-off win.
While the Dust Devils fell on Wednesday, the Everett AquaSox also lost. Tri-City remains two games up on the AquaSox and three games up on the Canadians in the race for the North Division's final playoff spot with five regular season games left to play. The Dust Devils also own the head-to-head tiebreaker against both teams.
Right-hander Nick Thwaits will toe the rubber in the middle game of the three-game series. Vancouver will counter with right-hander Alex Nolan. The team will return home on Saturday to start a three-game series at Gesa Stadium against the Spokane Indians. Saturday there will be a postgame fireworks show presented by TOYOTA of Tri-Cities. Great seats are available by calling the team's office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
