For the second straight night the Tri-City Dust Devils (13-16) fell in extra innings to the Hillsboro Hops (21-8), losing on Saturday night 7-6. The Dust Devils forced extra innings after rallying to score three runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game.
Tri-City's bullpen kept the team in the game throughout the night. Ramon Perez struggled out of the gate for the Dust Devils. Tri-City's starting pitcher only recorded one out before coming out of the game. The bullpen kept the team within striking distance over the course of the night, allowing the team to ultimately send the game to extra innings. After scoring a run in the top of the 11th inning to take the lead, the Dust Devils surrendered two runs to the Hops as Hillsboro earned their the walk-off win for the second consecutive evening.
Tri-City will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the five-game series. The Dust Devils will send right-hander Angel Acevedo to the mound. Hillsboro will counter with right-hander Jackson Goddard. First pitch is set for 4:05 pm. The next home game for Tri-City will be on Monday, July 16. The opener of the eight-game homestand will be Home Run Derby Night presented by The Batters Box and a Coca-Cola Monday, where all 22 oz.
