The Tri-City Dust Devils (16-17) were unable to come away with the sweep on Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium as the team lost 2-1 in ten innings to the Vancouver Canadians (16-17). With five games to play in the first half the Dust Devils remain one-game behind Everett in the North Division.
Cole Bellinger delivered a magnificent performance for Tri-City. Bellinger tossed six scoreless innings and left the game with the Dust Devils leading by one run. Vancouver answered back in the top of the seventh inning, scoring their first run of the night to tie the game. Tri-City twice had a runner at third base with less than two outs in the late innings, but the team was unable to capitalize on either opportunity. The Canadians scored in the top of the tenth inning to take their first lead of the game. Vancouver sealed the win after Marcus Reyes struck out all three batters he faced in the bottom of the tenth.
The homestand continues for the Dust Devils. The Eugene Emeralds will come to town to begin a five-game series. Right-hander Sam Keating is schedule to start the series opener. Eugene will counter with right-hander Zach Mort. There will be a postgame fireworks show Thursday night at Gesa Stadium.
