Adam Seminaris threw seven shutout innings, and the Tri-City Dust Devils (10-8) got their offense going in a 9-1 win over the Eugene Emeralds (9-8) Friday night at Gesa Stadium.

Seminaris (1-0) gave up only three hits in his start, retiring Eugene in order four times. He struck out five and walked two, throwing only 77 pitches and helping his squad even the series at two games apiece.

The lefty from Pomona, California got backing from the Tri-City lineup early on. Straton Podaras hit a 2-run opposite-field double to right in the 2nd inning, giving the Dust Devils a 2-0 lead.

Tri-City would double the lead in the 3rd. Mike Peabody smashed a 2-run home run to right center field, his second of the season, scoring Gabe Matthews for a 4-0 Dust Devils advantage.

Matthews had a great day at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double, scoring three runs and driving in two. With a walk and beating out a dropped third strike, Matthews reached base in all five of his plate appearances.

An RBI single by Matthews in the 5th added one more, moving the Tri-City lead to 5-0. The Dust Devils scored two more on a Eugene error in the 7th, and a Matthews RBI single in the 8th inning made it 8-0. Jordyn Adams scored on a wild pitch for the ninth and final Tri-City run of the night.

Brandon Dufault pitched the final two innings for the Dust Devils, giving up a run in the 9th. He also struck out five Emeralds hitters, striking out the side in the 8th and finishing the game with a punch-out.

Tri-City and Eugene meet for game five of their six-game series at 6:30p Saturday night at Gesa Stadium. A battle of southpaws is scheduled, with Nick Mondak probable for the Dust Devils, and Nick Swiney scheduled to go for the Emeralds. Also, since it’s a Saturday night we’ll also have a Post-Game Fireworks Show presented by McEachen Electric.
