Another close game between the Tri-City Dust Devils (15-26 2H, 44-60) and the Everett AquaSox (18-21 2H, 50-56) turned into a torrent of Tri-City runs in later innings, with the Dust Devils taking a 11-3 win over the AquaSox Saturday night at Gesa Stadium.

Neither team scored in the first four innings, with the teams combining to leave nine on base. Tri-City starter Jose Salvador navigated a bases loaded jam in the 2nd inning, getting a strikeout to keep Everett off the scoreboard. The AquaSox opened the scoring in the 5th inning via a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead. The Dust Devils responded in a major way in the bottom of the 6th, scoring four to take the lead for good.

CF Joe Stewart started the inning by reaching on an error by Everett SS James Parker. DH Steven Rivas followed with a double off AquaSox starter Bryan Woo (1-1) to put runners at second and third with no one out. LF Casey Dana was hit by a pitch next, loading the bases.

1B-3B Christian Sepulveda then hit a fly ball to right, with Everett CF Victor Labrada and RF Trent Tingelstad colliding on the catch attempt and dropping the ball. Stewart and Rivas scored on the play for a 2-1 Dust Devils lead. Dana then scored on a passed ball, and 3B-C Christian Molfetta hit a fly ball to right field to score Sepulveda for a 4-1 advantage.

Tri-City then opened the floodgates in the 7th inning, scoring seven times. 2B Osmy Gregorio, Stewart and Rivas opened the inning with singles to center field, Rivas’s scoring Gregorio for a 5-1 lead. Dana reached on a fielder’s choice, leaving two on for Sepulveda. The righty from New York, New York sent a high fly over the left field fence for a three-run home run, his first for the Dust Devils. The longball pushed the lead to 8-1.

1B Gabe Matthews, who was supposed to have a day off before entering mid-game, restarted the rally with a single to left field. Molfetta and SS Kyren Paris followed with back-to-back triples to make it 10-1. RF Mike Peabody grounded out to score Paris to complete the seven-run inning.

AquaSox C Ty Duvall closed the scoring with a two-run home run in the 9th inning for the final 11-3 margin, with the win clinching a series split for Tri-City.
