The Hops added an additional run to their edge in the second inning to expand their lead to six. The Dust Devils chipped away at Hillsboro's advantage throughout the game, pulling within two runs in the eighth inning. In the top of the ninth inning Tri-City had two runners aboard, but the comeback bid ultimately fell short.
The Dust Devils will return home to begin a seven-game homestand starting on Tuesday. Tri-City will send left-hander Jason Blanchard to the mound in the first game of the three-game series against the Vancouver Canadians. Tuesday will be Ladies Night at Gesa Stadium.
