Smith Twirls Gem in Tri-City Debut

The pitching staff again led the way for the Tri-City Dust Devils (12-22) on Friday night at Ron Tonkin Field as the team notched the 4-2 win over the Hillsboro Hops. Newcomer Ryan Smith shined in his Tri-City debut, earning the win after tossing six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts.

The Dust Devils entered the ninth inning with a chance keep the Hops scoreless for the second straight game, but Hillsboro ultimately rallied to bring in two runs. It was a balanced performance at the plate for Tri-City in the win. Eight different Dust Devils had a hit, including Kyle Kasser, who extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Coming up in the fifth matchup of the six-game series on Saturday night the Dust Devils will send right-hander Zach Linginfelter to the mound, while right-hander Drey Jameson will toe the rubber for the Hops.
