Osmy Gregorio hit his first home run of 2022 and scored both runs for the Tri-City Dust Devils (1-4 2H, 30-38) Wednesday night, but the Hillsboro Hops (3-2 2H, 32-37) made an early 3-run burst hold up in a 3-2 win at Gesa Stadium.

Gregorio led off the bottom of the 4th inning by taking a pitch off Hillsboro’s Jamison Hill (3-5) the opposite way over the right field fence for his first round-tripper of the season. The solo shot made it a 3-1 Hops lead.

In the 6th, Gregorio again led off the inning with an extra-base hit off Hill, a triple to left center field. Kyle Kasser singled up the middle to bring him home and get the Dust Devils within one run at 3-2. Tri-City would then get runners on base in each of the final three innings but could not push the tying run across.

Landon Marceaux (2-5) started and went six innings, giving up three runs and nothing otherwise. He walked one and struck out three along the way, getting the loss in a quality start.

Hillsboro got all its runs in the top of the 3rd inning. A.J. Vukovich hit a 2-run triple down the right field line, and then scored on a wild pitch later in the frame for what ended up the game-winning run.

Kyle Kasser joined Gregorio with a multi-hit performance, with both going 2 for 4 on the night.

On the mound, Hayden Seig pitched two scoreless innings in relief and Emilker Guzman added a scoreless 9th.

Reigning Northwest League Pitcher of the Week Robinson Piña takes the mound in game three of the six-game series Thursday night at Gesa Stadium, with righty Scott Randall countering for the Hops.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with the broadcast of the game beginning with the King Beverage Budweiser Pregame Show at 6:50 p.m. at dustdevilsbaseball.com and the MiLB First Pitch app.
